How Vehicle Donation Works
Donating your car, truck, RV, or boat to support Muslim causes is simple and straightforward. Follow these 4 easy steps.
Understanding the Donation Process
Your vehicle is processed by our partner CarEasy, who independently handles all towing, paperwork, and processing of the vehicle. CarEasy sells vehicles through various channels (auctions, salvage/parts buyers, private sales, etc.) to maximize proceeds. IECRC does not have control over or influence on this processing and sales process. CarEasy retains approximately 30% of the proceeds to cover processing, handling, and administrative costs. The remaining approximately 70% of the proceeds are donated to IECRC to support Islamic community programs.
Have a running vehicle? If you prefer to donate a running car directly to IECRC (bypassing processing fees), please contact IECRC directly to arrange the donation. IECRC may be able to handle direct donations depending on the vehicle's condition and location. CarEasy can handle most vehicles, running or not.

Start your donation by visiting our partner's secure donation page. You'll provide basic information about your vehicle including:

Vehicle Pickup
A professional towing company will arrive at your scheduled time to pick up your vehicle. Here's what happens during pickup:
What You Need to Have Ready:
- Vehicle Title: Signed over to the charity (we'll guide you on how to do this)
- Vehicle Keys: All sets if available (not required if lost)
- Photo ID: Driver's license or other government-issued ID
- Remove Personal Items: Clear out all belongings from the vehicle
The tow truck driver will provide you with a receipt confirming the pickup. The entire process typically takes 10-15 minutes.
Receive Tax Receipt
After your vehicle is sold by CarEasy (through auctions, salvage/parts buyers, private sales, or other channels), you'll receive IRS Form 1098-C, which documents your charitable contribution for tax purposes. Approximately 70% of the sale proceeds will be donated to IECRC. The timeline for receiving your tax receipt depends on the sale price:
Vehicles Selling for $500 or Less
You'll receive your tax receipt within 30 days of the donation.
Tax Deduction: You can deduct the fair market value up to $500.
Vehicles Selling for More Than $500
You'll receive your tax receipt within 30 days of the vehicle sale.
Tax Deduction: You deduct the actual sale price documented on Form 1098-C.
Form 1098-C is the IRS-required document for claiming vehicle donation deductions. Keep it with your tax records. The form includes:
- Charity name and EIN (IECRC's 501(c)(3) information)
- Vehicle description (make, model, year, VIN)
- Date of donation and sale price (if over $500)
- Statement that no goods or services were provided in exchange
Note: We are not tax professionals. Please consult with a qualified tax advisor regarding your specific tax situation and deduction eligibility.
